The Suffragists
Women's suffrage campaigns emerged around the world throughout the 19th century
Many women had to pay tax like men, but could not vote like men
Some believed that they should not be prevented from playing a role in making the laws
These women were referred to as 'suffragists'
New Zealand was the first major country to have universal suffrage - everyone could vote
South Australia granted women equal voting rights in 1894
South Australia was the first place in the world where women could stand in elections
Most 'Western' countries had equal suffrage rights by 1945
Due to religious beliefs, some countries do not have voting rights for women
The last 'Western' country to give women the vote was Liechtenstein in 1984

Dynasties
A dynasty is a series of rulers who are most often from the same family
A dynasty is also used to describe an era during which a particular family ruled
There have been many dynasties of differing lengths and importance around the world
The impact of dynasties on history varies
The stories of many of the great empires are usually told through the ruling dynasties
By looking at a Roman dynasty we can see how the Empire was affected by its rulers
By looking at the dynasties who ruled China, we can see how that country changed over the years
