Tables, graphs and diagrams
Topic : Tables, graphs and diagrams
In this topic you will learn...
Chapter 1 :
Maximum, minimum, total, range, rank and average
Maximum is the greatest quantity, degree or value of something
Minimum is the least quantity, degree or value of something
The total is the sum of the set of given numbers
The range is the difference between the highest and lowest number in a set of given numbers
A rank is the positioning of items (statistics) in an ordered sequence (first, second, third etc)
Average is calculated by dividing the total of the numbers given, by how many numbers were added
Chapter 2 :
Bar, column, line, climatic and proportional graphs
Bar graphs show data using horizontal columns
Column graphs show data using vertical columns
Line graphs use thin lines to show the change of something over time
Climatic graphs use a line graph to represent temperature and a bar graph to document precipitation
Proportional graphs use images which are sized in proportion to the data being represented
Proportional graphs are sometimes combined with pie charts
Chapter 3 :
Pie charts
A pie chart is a circular graph, which is divided into a number of parts to show the composition of a whole
Pie charts can either show data in the form of a quantity, or a percentage
Pie charts often use a legend since the data cannot always fit in the segments of the graph
